What’s next for Yankees as MLB Winter Meetings come to an end

Yankees writer Pete Caldera breaks down what’s next for the Yankees as the Winter Meetings conclude.

One of the Yankees’ AL East rivals made a move on Friday. And Yankees fans might remember this particular name.

The Baltimore Orioles are acquiring right-handed starter Shane Baz from the Tampa Bay Rays, according to multiple reports.

In the deal, the Orioles are reportedly sending a package to the Rays, including outfielder Slater de Brun, catcher Caden Bodine, pitcher Michael Forret and outfielder Austin Overn, according to an ESPN report.

Baz is the Rays’ starter who allowed back-to-back-to-back home runs to the Yankees in a game on Aug. 19 as Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger and Giancarlo Stanton all went deep in the first inning.

For Judge, it was his 40th home run of the season on a ball that traveled an estimated 429 feet.

The blast brought thousands of Yankees fans to their feet at GMS Field – the temporary home of the Rays and the Yankees’ spring training home.
