The Los Angeles Dodgers are one of the best teams of this generation after winning back-to-back World Series titles, but they’re seemingly ready to improve the roster even more.
The Dodgers are one of the top landing spots for superstar free agent Kyle Tucker, but it doesn’t seem like they’re going to be able to land him. Instead, they could pivot to the biggest fish on the trade market.
FanSided’s Christopher Kline predicted the Dodgers would land Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal in a league-altering trade this offseason.

“It would be absolutely diabolical, borderline unethical, for the Detroit Tigers to send Tarik Skubal — the back-to-back AL Cy Young and arguably the best pitcher in baseball — to the Los Angeles Dodgers,” Kline wrote. “But L.A. has MLB’s top farm system, replete with explosive hitters and talented long-term bets on the mound. There simply isn’t a better combination of MLB-ready pitching and potential offensive centerpieces available to Detroit.
“Skubal would join Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Shohei Ohtani, Blake Snell and maybe even Tyler Glasnow to form the best pitching staff in MLB. Really without question. He’s a free agent at season’s end, but if any team can afford to fork over a $500 million extension and just nix that concern altogether, it’s the Dodgers.”
Any trade idea for Skubal seems a bit far-fetched at this point in time, as he’s the best pitcher in the league, but if any team has the prospect capital to make a deal, it’s the Dodgers.
The Dodgers could package starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow, catching prospect Dalton Rushing, and a slew of other prospects to land Skubal. They have plenty of depth to deal from because they’re able to sign top talent in free agency.
The Dodgers would also have the money to sign Skubal to an extension before he gets to free agency. In theory, the idea makes perfect sense, but in reality, it seems unlikely for the time being.
