The Toronto Blue Jays have been one of the most aggressive teams in the league this offseason, signing Dylan Cease, Cody Ponce and Tyler Rogers. However, they have not made a splash in the position player market yet.

The Blue Jays are reportedly pursuing Kyle Tucker, but one of their homegrown stars is also a free agent. Bo Bichette was one of the biggest reasons why the Blue Jays finished with the best record in the American League last season. While Tucker would be a huge get for the Blue Jays, Just Baseball’s Jordan Leandre urged the Blue Jays to sign Bichette to an eight-year, $208 million deal to help round out their offseason.

Bichette was leading baseball in hits before a knee sprain in the final month of the regular season. He is one of the best hitters in baseball and would be a great addition to any contender. He is not a great defender, but the Blue Jays could move him to second base and play Andrés Giménez at shortstop.

Bichette has noted that he wants to continue playing alongside Vladimir Guerrero Jr. However, he is not expected to take a discount to stay in Toronto. A $208 million deal for Bichette would be the sixth-largest shortstop contract in baseball.

The Blue Jays made the World Series without Bichette playing in most of the postseason. However, the moves they have made this winter have put them in an even better position to succeed. Bringing the two-time All-Star back on a long-term deal would set their offense up to run it back with a new look rotation and bullpen.
