CARROLLTON — Owen County’s postseason run ended during the semifinals of the 31st District Softball Tournament.
Reigning champion Henry County shut out Owen County 8-0 during the semifinals of the 31st District Softball Tournament at Carroll County on Monday, May 19.
The loss eliminated Owen County from the 31st District Softball Tournament. Owen County exited the 2025 high school softball season 7-13.
Henry County scored in five of its six at-bats. The Ladycats pushed across two runs in the bottom half of the opening inning.
Sophia Lay pitched a two-hit shutout for Henry County and earned the win in the circle. Lay recorded 10 strikeouts.
Andi Baumann pitched a complete game for Owen County and suffered the loss in the circle. Baumann struck out two Henry County batters.
Henry County scored eight runs on 10 hits. A balanced offensive attack for Henry County featured Lay (one hit), Aubree Kirk (two hits, two RBIs), Kennadie Hamby (two hits, two RBIs), Micah MaGruder (two hits), Autumn Shea (one hit, one RBI), Carly Davidson (one hit) and Khloe Brown (one hit). Showing speed on the basepaths, Hamby legged out a triple.
Offensively for Owen County, Hannah Mason and Alli Settles each collected one hit.
In the other game played during the semifinals of the 31st District Softball Tournament, Trimble County edged Carroll County 4-3.
Lady Rebels outlast Gallatin County
CARROLLTON — Owen County outlasted rival Gallatin County 9-6 in eight innings in the opening round of the 31st District Softball Tournament at Carroll County on Saturday, May 17.
The Lady Rebels plated two runs in the top half of the seventh inning to tie the game 6-6.
After carrying momentum into an extra inning, Owen County scored three runs during its eighth at-bat to move ahead 9-6.
Andi Baumann pitched a complete game for Owen County and earned the win in the circle.
Bella Runyon pitched one inning in relief for Gallatin County and suffered the loss. Runyon struck out one Owen County batter.
Isabella Olivigni started in the circle for Gallatin County and pitched seven innings. Olivigni recorded five strikeouts.
Players throughout Owen County’s lineup delivered at the plate. Owen County scored nine runs on 18 hits. Baumann (one hit), Hannah Mason (four hits, one RBI), Abigayle Dempsey (three hits, three RBIs), Ali Settles (two hits, two RBIs), Lois Kemper (two hits, one RBI), Shaylee Glacken (two hits), Peyton Perkins (two hits), Lexie Chappell (one hit, one RBI) and Sophia Perry (one hit) each made an impact offensively for the Lady Rebels.
Prior to coming up short, Gallatin County connected for nearly a dozen hits. Runyon (three hits, one RBI), Olivigni (two hits), Jaidean Branem (two hits, three RBIs), Daylen Florence (two hits), Jayden Riddle (one hit, two RBIs) and Keagan Howard (one hit) accounted for Gallatin County’s offense.
With the win, Owen County improved to 7-12. The Lady Rebels advanced to the semifinals of the 31st District Softball Tournament.
Lady Rebels defeat Beechwood in five innings
FORT MITCHELL — Owen County pulled away to defeat Beechwood 16-5 in five innings in a late-season high school softball game on Wednesday, May 14.
Andi Baumann pitched a complete game for Owen County and earned the win in the circle. Baumann recorded three strikeouts.
Annette Cento, Baumann’s counterpart, pitched a complete game for Beechwood and suffered the loss in the circle.
The Lady Rebels excelled offensively. All of the players in Owen County’s lineup thrived at the plate. Owen County scored 16 runs on 17 hits. The offensive contributors for Owen County were Baumann (three hits), Shaylee Glacken (three hits, one RBI), Hannah Mason (three hits), Abigayle Dempsey (two hits, five RBIs), Alli Settles (two hits, three RBIs), Lois Kemper (one hit, two RBIs), Sophia Perry (one hit, one RBI), Peyton Perkins (one hit, one RBI) and Lexie Chappell (one hit, one RBI). Both Dempsey and Settles doubled twice for the Lady Rebels.
Beechwood plated five runs on five hits. Cento (one hit), Brooke Moore (one hit, two RBIs), Willow Million (one hit, one RBI), Hannah Penny (one hit) and Addy Schilling (one hit) each chipped in offensively for the Lady Tigers.
