Joe Ryan

*This is a prediction*

The Minnesota Twins remain trying to find a way to get back on track and rebuild their roster. After a 2025 MLB trade deadline where they traded away numerous players, this has to be their goal throughout the offseason with replenishing talent.

One of the ways in which they can do so is by trading Joe Ryan, who was a player involved in trade discussions at the deadline and early in the offseason, but those discussions have since quieted a bit. Still, if the Twins get the right trade package for Ryan, they should go through with trading him.

One team makes sense to be the team to trade for Joe Ryan, and that is the Baltimore Orioles.

Minnesota Twins Trade Joe Ryan to the Baltimore Orioles

The Baltimore Orioles have made a statement so far this offseason, one that shows they are committed to winning in 2026. They traded for Taylor Ward and Shane Baz, and also signed Pete Alonso. The Orioles have had a strong start, but they still need to make more additions to their pitching staff even after adding Baz and Ryan Helsley.

Adding Baz to a rotation that features Trevor Rogers, Dean Kremer, Kyle Bradish, Tyler Wells, and Cade Povich was a start in the right direction, but for the Orioles, they need a true ace at the top of their pitching staff to truly take the next steps. They can do so by trading for Joe Ryan.

Joe Ryan is coming off a 2025 season in which he was a first-time All-Star, and ended up pitching a 3.42 ERA, and 1.035 WHIP, while adding on 194 strikeouts. Ryan has showcased he can be a reliable ace throughout his five seasons in MLB so far, and with him being just  29 years old still, he becomes aa prime trade target. If Baltimore can acquire him in a trade, their pitching rotation would be set.
