ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – Members of a local baseball team made a forever impact on local families for the holidays.

The Bulldogs 16 and under travel baseball team, based out of Elmira Heights, teamed up with the Twin Tiers Church of Christ to help those in need for Christmas. Players provided toys and gifts to families who are less fortunate in the Elmira area making sure they could share in the holiday spirit.

Three of those players were invited to the studio to discuss the power and privilege to help the community. The team is coached by Horseheads grad and local baseball great Jeremy Gulich. A former Elmira Pioneers player and pitching coach, Gulich signed a scout league contract with the Angels organization of Major League Baseball (MLB) in 2007. He played collegiately at Hudson Valley CC and William Penn University.

“The Christmas holiday season can be hard for people because stuff just went up in price over the years,” Edison High School sophomore Braedyn Gulich said. “It was good to give back to people that need it.”

Teammate and fellow Edison High School sophomore Alijuawan Hall also believes in the helping the community. It’s a gesture that he feels will be one that he’ll continue year after year.

“It’s really about just giving back to families in need,” Hall said. “They really need the help because the Christmas holiday could be harder for people.”

Watkins Glen High School sophomore Isaak Willett “Being able to show what other people need and being able to show that we can give back to our community really helps us,” Willett said. “It shows how much of family we are.”
