The Atlanta Braves are preparing for the 2026 MLB season. With Christmas right around the corner, they could give their fans a massive gift for the holiday by signing star Bo Bichette. Bichette, one of the best infielders in MLB, would give the Braves a star for years to come.

There would be some obstacles if the Braves were to sign Bichette, though. He is a shortstop, and the team recently agreed to re-sign Ha-Seong Kim for the 2026 campaign. Additionally, second baseman Ozzie Albies is still on the roster.

Bichette is rumored to be willing to move to second base. While he would represent an upgrade over Albies, moving on from the veteran would not be an easy thing to do. Albies has spent multiple seasons in Atlanta and has made a significant impact along the way. While injuries have limited him at times, the Braves may be hesitant to completely move on from him.

With that being said, bringing in Bichette may lead to the Braves having a difficult decision to make when it comes to Albies’ future with the team. Kim is expected to be the shortstop in 2026, and Bichette would likely take over second base duties. Of course, Matt Olson and the Austin Riley play first and third base, so there would not be room for another infield swap.

Bichette, 27, would bring an offensive boost regardless of his position. He slashed .311/.357/.483 in 2025 to go along with an .840 OPS. He added 44 doubles, 14 home runs and 94 RBI. While he dealt with injury concerns in the postseason, he was able to make an impact in the World Series. The Blue Jays were ultimately defeated by the Los Angeles Dodgers in seven games, but Bichette played an important role in Toronto’s success throughout the season.

The Braves are trying to get back on track after not playing up to their standards in recent years. A Bichette addition would certainly help them achieve that goal. He would instantly join a core of players that could help Atlanta compete at a high level for the foreseeable future.

The Braves will have plenty of competition in a potential free agency pursuit of Bichette, but signing him should become one of their priorities.

And it goes without saying, but agreeing to a long-term contract with a star such as Bo Bichette would feel like a Christmas gift for fans of the team.
