*PREDICTION*
Following a mid-season fire sale this year, the Minnesota Twins enter the offseason with a ton of questions to answer across the roster. Minnesota wants to fully enter into a rebuild, and this could see the front office look to make even more moves this winter.
The Twins still have a few veteran players on the roster who could land them some real prospects for the future. One of those is veteran outfielder Bryon Buxton, who has been on the trade block for a few years now.
To this point, the Twins have held off moving Buxton, especially due to his own desire to remain in Minnesota. Buxton has a full no-trade clause on his current deal, and there have been rumors about him being willing to waive it this offseason.
The veteran outfielder wants to get back to playing meaningful baseball games, and if he were to stay with the Twins, that is likely not to happen for some time. Buxton remains an effective player on the field, even if injuries have stolen some of his prime years.
Last season with the Twins, Buxton hit .264 with 35 home runs and 82 runs batted in. The outfielder is also very solid on the basepaths, having stolen 23 bases this past season.
Minnesota is likely to hold a high asking price for the veteran outfielder, but with how the team has been operating lately, a move could be coming down the pipeline. Buxton has already drawn a lot of interest around the league, and now it’s a matter of where he will be traded if the Twins are ready to move on.

Byron Buxton Traded to Houston Astros
As the Twins look around for a potential trade of Buxton, the Houston Astros could make a lot of sense. Houston missed the playoffs this past season, and the front office is now looking for ways to make sure that it doesn’t happen again in 2026.
Adding Buxton to this team could massively benefit the clubhouse, and he could easily fill one of the open outfield spots on the roster. The veteran also still has multiple years of control left on his deal, and the Astros could value having this added to the team.
Since Buxton has years of control on his deal, the Astros would need to pay a pretty price for his services, but it could be more than worth it. If Buxton can remain on the field, the Astros could get a player with one of the highest upside in the entire sport for the next few years.
Putting the bat and defense of Buxton could help this Astros team take that next step and get back to being World Series contenders. Houston never replaced Kyle Tucker after trading him last offseason, and Buxton could be the piece to help this team get over the hump.
