Caleb Bonemer established himself as a prospect on the rise in his first season in the Chicago White Sox organization.

The former Okemos star, selected No. 43 overall by the White Sox in the 2024 MLB Draft, turned in strong work across two Single-A levels in 2025, hitting a combined .281 with an .874 OPS across low-A Kannapolis and high-A Winston-Salem to earn a spot among MLB’s top 100 prospects.

On Wednesday, MLB Pipeline identified the shortstop as one of five prospects who improved their stock the most in 2025.

The right-handed hitting Bonemer, 20, added 12 home runs, 64 RBIs and 29 stolen bases in 107 games (385 official at-bats) in his first season en route to Most Valuable Player honors in the Carolina League with Kannapolis. He’s ranked No. 73 among Pipeline’s top 100 prospects (and No. 4 in the White Sox organization), and No. 71 by Baseball America.

“He was tremendous this year,” Pipeline’s Jim Callis said on the outlet’s podcast, which was used for Wednesday’s story. “He was MVP in the Carolina League … made two Class A stops in his first full year in pro ball. And, even more so, his defense at shortstop was better than realized. Looks like he can play shortstop. Now, I don’t know if Caleb Bonemer will actually play shortstop in Chicago, but he’s capable of it, and he’s a guy who’s a better hitter and a better defender than I personally realized.”

Pipeline’s assessment is the latest glowing review for Bonemer, who was the highest-drafted player to come out of the Greater Lansing area when the White Sox selected him the second round in 2024 and a two-time Michigan Gatorade Player of the Year at Okemos.

In early September, Pipeline awarded him a spot on its all-breakout team for 2025, and later that month, he landed a spot on Baseball America’s Minor League All-Star second team.
