The Baltimore Orioles have been really aggressive during the 2025 MLB offseason. Baltimore acquired outfielder Taylor Ward and first baseman Pete Alonso for its lineup while Shane Baz, Ryan Helsley, and Andrew Kittredge joined the pitching staff. However, the Orioles are far from done this winter.

Baltimore is still pursuing upgrades for its MLB roster ahead of the 2026 season, as reported by The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal. The Orioles need more starting pitching, but are also looking for more bullpen help and complementary position players to round out the lineup.

Most importantly, the Orioles need more pitching if they want to put themselves in a prime position moving forward. Below, we dive into five big trades the Orioles could swing to help make the 2026 World Series.

Baltimore Orioles trade for ace pitcher Tarik SkubalMLB: Detroit Tigers at Baltimore Orioles

Tarik Skubal would be the biggest possible acquisition for the Orioles this offseason. Skubal has been in MLB trade rumors for years, but with only one year left on his contract, the Detroit Tigers could look to maximize his value. The Orioles would probably have to include infielder Jackson Holliday, but the back-to-back AL Cy Young Award winner could lead them to a World Series berth next year.

Hunter Greene moved to Baltimore in stunning tradeMLB: Cincinnati Reds at Baltimore Orioles

Hunter Greene is a step down from Skubal, but this might be more intriguing. Greene has four more years of team control and has the ingredients to become a Cy Young-caliber pitcher. The Cincinnati Reds would have to be blown away with an offer, making Holliday or another top prospect a necessity in the deal. Greene would become Baltimore’s ace pitcher and help its bid in the postseason.

Orioles acquire Freddy Peralta from MilwaukeeMLB: Baltimore Orioles at Milwaukee Brewers

Freddy Peralta is more likely to be moved than Greene, but has the same risks as Skubal at a lesser price. Peralta is scheduled to become a free agent after the 2026 MLB season, and the Milwaukee Brewers might be looking to maximize his value before free agency. The Orioles could include infielder Coby Mayo and bring Peralta to Baltimore this offseason.

Baltimore Orioles swing historic trade for MacKenzie GoreMLB: Washington Nationals at Baltimore Orioles

MacKenzie Gore is a hot name on the MLB trade market, and the Orioles could be his landing spot. In fact, it would be a historic trade as the Washington Nationals haven’t traded with Baltimore since the organization moved to D.C. Gore only has two years left on his contract, which makes Mayo and other prospects a likely trade package for Washington.

Edward Cabrera traded from Miami to BaltimoreMLB: Miami Marlins at Baltimore Orioles

Edward Cabrera has been linked to the Orioles this offseason, and he could be the answer for their rotation. Cabrera has three years of team control remaining on his contract, as the Miami Marlins look to maximize value on a pitcher who showed drastic improvement in 2025. Just like Gore, the Orioles would have to give up Mayo and others, but it would be worth it for the 2026 MLB season.
