The Los Angeles Dodgers signed free agent catcher Chuckie Robinson to a minor league deal on Friday.

Robinson spent most of 2025 with the Dodgers organization, joining LA at the end of May when they claimed him off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels. The Angels acquired Robinson in Dec. 2024, sending cash to the Chicago White Sox for the catcher.

The 31-year-old made one appearance for the Dodgers in MLB, logging a single at-bat in September. Robinson came up to the roster during the Dodgers’ minor injury crisis at catcher last season, during which Will Smith and Dalton Rushing both landed on the injured list within a week of each other. He served as Ben Rortvedt’s backup during that time.

Robinson made 51 appearances with Triple-A Oklahoma City in 2025, slashing .254/.337/.348 with four homers and 30 RBIs. He fared better with the Angels’ Triple-A affiliate in Salt Lake, batting .272 and posting a .703 OPS through 27 games last season.

The Dodgers designated Robinson for assignment after his brief stint in the majors, and he joined the Atlanta Braves for the remainder of the season. He didn’t make an appearance for Atlanta at any level before re-entering free agency.

Prior 2025, Robinson had featured in two MLB seasons: 2022 and 2024. He made 25 appearances with the Cincinnati Reds in 2022, posting a .407 OPS with two homers and five RBIs. He made 26 appearances for the White Sox in 2024, and had a .326 OPS.

Robinson is set to start the season with the Comets in 2026, though is still firmly blocked by Smith and Rushing at catcher at the MLB level. If the Dodgers find themselves in another injury crisis next season, though, Robinson will be available for the Dodgers whenever they need him.
