The MLB free agent pitcher market has started to see some of the bigger named free agents like Dylan Cease, and Merrill Kelly sign with teams, leading to teams having to look at other free agents to fill out their pitching rotation, and one pitcher that should start to see an increase in attention is Max Scherzer.
*Prediction*
When it comes to Max Scherzer, he is a bit older, so he can’t be relied on as a top-end pitcher, but he can fill out a rotation that is looking for mid-level starters to fill out the depth. One of the teams that can emerge as the team to sign him is the Los Angeles Angels.

The Los Angeles Angels are in need of a major boost this offseason to help get them on track to being true contenders once again as finishing with a 72-90 record last season, while having a talented player like Mike Trout on the team, is unacceptable. One major issue the Angels must fix this season is their pitching.
Yusei Kikuchi and Jose Soriano were impressive last season, and Los Angeles did trade for Grayson Rodriguez, but they are going to need to fill out the rest of their rotation if they are going to emerge as true contenders for the 2026 MLB season. The Angels need experience and talent, and they can get that by signing Max Scherzer.
With Max Scherzer having been around MLB for 18 years, he has gained plenty of experience over the years. With Scherzer, he is coming off a season in which he had a 5.19 ERA, but provided better production for the Toronto Blue Jays in the postseason as he had a 3.77 ERA.
Max Scherzer being 41 years old would typically mean he would look to sign with a true contender, which is something the Angels haven’t shown lately, but they do have a selling point to persuade Scherzer, and that is Mike Maddux, who is the pitching coach on the Angels. Maddux and Scherzer worked together on the Texas Rangers for a bit, leading to a relationship being formed.
With his skills that he has showcased over his career, Max Scherzer should end up being the primary pitching target for the Angels to look to sign if they are serious about fixing things for the future.
