2025 didn’t exactly start out great for Wisconsin sports as the Green Bay Packers fumbled the opening kickoff against the Philadelphia Eagles in the wild card round of the playoffs.
Philly scored later on that drive and never trailed as they ended a once-promising season for the Packers, 22-10.
Four days later, the entire state was in mourning when legendary Milwaukee Brewers play-by-play announcer Bob Uecker died at the age of 90 after a battle with lung cancer.
The Brew Crew did gave the state something to cheer about in the summer as they finished the year with the best record in all of baseball, setting a new franchise record with 14 straight wins. They parlayed that into their first playoff series victory since 2018 when they beat their rival Chicago Cubs in five games in the division series. That high didn’t last long though, as they were swept by the Dodgers in the National League Championship Series.
It was a summer of transition for the Packers: President and CEO Mark Murphy retired after 18 years of holding that position. Ed Policy took over that role, becoming the 12th president in franchise history.
Then 10 days before the season began, the Packers made a blockbuster trade, sending Kenny Clark and draft picks to the Dallas Cowboys for all-pro edge rusher Micah Parsons, who has wreaked havoc in opponents’ backfields from the moment he arrived.

Unfortunately for the green and gold, Parsons tore his ACL in the Packers’ loss to the Denver Broncos and will miss the remainder of the season.
