The Cleveland Guardians have been quiet on the trade front this offseason, too silent considering the organization’s history. However, there are still two months before pitchers and catchers report, and a handful of players who could be moved before then.

Teams across MLB have already given up quite a bit to add more starting pitching to their roster. Just look at the Sonny Gray and Shane Baz deals.

If the Guardians are going to deal from their rotation to add another bat to the lineup, it would make the most sense to put together a package centered around Logan Allen.

Allen is coming off a 2025 season in which he registered a 4.25 ERA and 1.40 WHIP. What those stats don’t show is just how consistent he was throughout the year, which is always needed in the back half of a rotation.

Cleveland must already shrink their rotation before Opening Day, so trading from a position of depth for an area of need makes too much sense for the organization.

Stephen Vogt made some interesting comments about the middle infield tandem during MLB’s Winter Meetings earlier in December. Cleveland’s skipper shared that Brayan Rocchio will see time at shortstop, leaving second base open for other players, perhaps Travis Bazzana and Juan Brito.

Vogt also revealed that Arias will likely move around the diamond in more of a utility role, but it sounds like he could be the odd man out once the prospects are ready for their MLB debut.

The Guardians may not get much in return for Arias, who owns a career OPS of .630 and is out of minor league options. Still, the shortstop is a tremendous defender and could pique the interest of a team looking for more infield depth, and believe they could tap into Arias’ natural power.

Daniel Schneemann has been a great depth piece for the Guardians the last two seasons, moving all around the diamond and providing some key hits for the team, too. He was even a finalist for a Gold Glove Award at the utility position.

That said, with Chase DeLauter, George Valera, CJ Kayufs, and eventually Bazzana and Brito in the mix, four of whom are left-handed bats, playing time for Schneeman could be scarce.

A contender looking for more bench depth and a player they can shift around the diamond may find value in trading for a guy of Schneemann’s caliber and skill set.
