Jarren Duran

The big topic of the offseason has been centered around the Boston Red Sox and what they do with their overabundance of outfield talent. This has led to increased discussion around if the Red Sox will trade Jarren Duran or Wilyer Abreu, and it seems most likely that the player that will be traded to create room and avoid the log jam is Durran.

*Prediction*

While there have been many teams linked to having interest in trading for Jarren Duran, no trades have come to fruition yet. If the Red Sox do go through with trading Duran, the team that makes sense to pull off the trade is San Diego Padres.

Boston Red Sox Trade Jarren Duran to the San Diego Padres

The San Diego Padres are going to need to pull out all the stops this offseason if they wish to become true National League contenders and be the ones to slow down the Los Angeles Dodgers’ dynasty run. If the Padres are going to accomplish this they need an improvement in left field as Ramón Laureano is currently slotted in there.

San Diego also needs someone to provide a boost to their lineup, as despite having Xander Bogarts, Manny Machado, and Fernando Tatis Jr, their lineup didn’t live up to expectations. The Padres need a boost in both areas, and to solve both at once they can trade for Jarren Duran.

With Jarren Duran being 29 years old and entering the sixth season of his career with already having a career slash line of .267/.328/.452 with 50 home runs and 226 runs batted in. Duran has been consistent both in his offensive impact, as well as his defensive ability to be a key player that can make an instant impact.

With Jarren Duran’s upside, he can fit right in with San Diego’s roster and provide the boost they need.
