As one of the most polarizing players in the MLB, seeing Jazz Chisholm on the move to the Los Angeles Dodgers would be a shock. But how realistic is the potential move?
Below, we’ll be looking into a mock trade from Garrett Kerman of Clutch Points that breaks down whether this deal would make sense for both the Dodgers and New York Yankees.
*PREDICTION*
Kerman writes that, “The Yankees would receive three assets representing different value horizons…The Dodgers’ infield has been a point of vulnerability for years…none have provided the offensive prowess that Chisholm brings to the table.”
With that all being said, a massive offer has to be made for Chisholm. It’s not often you see a 27-year-old coming off a season with 31 home runs and 31 stolen bases.

Now, to properly break down whether the value of this deal would make sense, here’s the full mock trade that Kerman created for Chisholm.
“Yankees Receive:…2B Hyeseong Kim…OF Zyhir Hope…LHP Jackson Ferris”
Hyeseong Kim is just 26 years old, and he was a strong player during his time in the KBO. Zyhir Hope is one of the most enticing parts of this deal due to how good of a prospect he is.
Right now, Hope is the 20th-ranked prospect in the MLB, and he’s just 20 years old. Finally, Jackson Ferris just makes the top 100 at 98. At 21 years old, Ferris is also an appealing option.
With that all being said, I’m still not sure it’s even enough value. Kim comes with too much risk, and a contender would more than likely want some kind of sure thing back in the deal.
If not, that would likely cost them more prospects than just the two mentioned.
While it’s a fun idea to think about, it just doesn’t make much sense for the Yankees to trade away Chisholm. They have a very talented roster, and it doesn’t make much sense for them to rebuild or retool in 2026.
In fact, the more likely outcome after winning 94 games is that they’ll try to make more moves in order to win a World Series. Despite the fact that getting Hope back is enticing, this move doesn’t make much sense for their roster.
Does Jazz Chisholm Fit With the Los Angeles Dodgers?
As for the Dodgers, they would love to have Chisholm. Considering that Kim is projected to be the team’s starting second baseman in 2026, adding Chisholm would be a simple choice.
While the Dodgers sacrifice long-term value, they don’t lose any other starters. In that one spot that they do, they’ll be getting a major upgrade.
The Dodgers are already dominant now, but it’s hard to see anyone even competing with them if they’re able to land Chisholm.
Jazz Chisholm Contract
Right now, Chisholm is on a deal that has him becoming a free agent in 2027. While that’s not too far away, money has never really been an issue for the Yankees.
As long as Chisholm is able to perform at a high level until then, expect him to receive a major payday from New York. All things considered, this deal isn’t super far off from a value standpoint, but it’s hard to see the Los Angeles Dodgers being able to trade for Jazz Chisholm right now.
