CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Beeville police are investigating a deadly incident on the 500 block of W. Milam Street after officers found a man unresponsive in the back portion of a residential property Tuesday night.

“We got a call in reference to a male subject bleeding and possibly not breathing,” said Officer Nathan Morin, Public Information Officer for the Beeville Police Department.

Officials said officers and emergency medical services were dispatched to the home around 7:14 p.m. Police arrived and secured the scene to allow EMS crews to access the area, where they found an adult male in a separate living space in the rear of the property.

“When they found the male individual, EMS was also dispatched at the same time, so they quickly cleared the scene and made sure it was safe for EMS to make their way in,” Morin said. “Together with EMS, they determined the victim was beyond resuscitative efforts.”

Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Detectives with Beeville police took over the investigation, with assistance from the Texas Rangers.

“When the Criminal Investigations Division got there, they proceeded with gathering information on who was present or who was there beforehand,” Morin said. “The Texas Rangers are assisting on the criminal side of things.”

Morin said investigators took one adult suspect into custody and recovered a weapon that is being held as evidence.

“The investigators did locate a weapon and recovered it as evidence,” Morin said. “Whether that weapon was used in the commission of the offense will be determined through the investigation.”

Police confirmed both the victim and the suspect lived on the property. Morin said all parties involved were adults.

At this time, the suspect is being held at the Bee County Jail on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, though Morin said the charge could change as the investigation continues.

“That charge could be upgraded or remain where it is — that’s still to be determined through the course of the investigation,” he said.

Angel Care EMS, the Beeville Volunteer Fire Department, Bee County Constable Precinct 2, the Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol and the Texas Ranger Division assisted at the scene.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Beeville Police Department and ask to speak with a detective or report anonymously through Coastal Bend Crime Stoppers at 877-362-0206.
