East Carolina left-handed pitcher Ethan Norby put together a spectacular season for the Pirates in 2025.
In 90 innings, which included 14 starts, he had a 3.80 ERA and 119 strikeouts. He was tied for the 12th most strikeouts among all pitchers in the country.
Norby also allowed an opposing batting average of just .215 and allowed only 22 walks.
He played a major role in leading the Pirates to the NCAA Tournament for the seventh straight season.
Norby Made History Against Coastal Carolina
Norby’s most notable game of the 2025 college baseball season came against the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers on March 7.
In 7 1/3 innings, he allowed no runs and just three hits. Norby also threw 19 strikeouts for the Pirates and set the record for the most strikeouts in a single game in American Athletic Conference history.
The left-hander talked about his great performance with the media after East Carolina’s win over Coastal Carolina.
“It was pretty cool,” Norby stated. “I think it comes down to going out there and feeling free.”

Norby’s MLB Draft Stock for 2026
The East Carolina southpaw is a well-regarded prospect for the 2026 MLB Draft.
MLB Pipeline has Norby ranked 72nd overall in their 2026 MLB Draft prospect rankings before this upcoming college baseball season.
The 2026 MLB Draft will be in July as part of MLB’s All-Star Week festivities in Philadelphia.

Norby and the East Carolina Pirates will begin the 2026 college baseball season with a three-game weekend series at Clark-LeClair Stadium in Greenville from February 13-15. They will play against the Xavier Musketeers.
