A former Atlanta Braves all-star and fan favorite has found a new home in MLB. As the calendar has now turned to the New Year, just seven weeks remain before Major League Baseball’s Spring Training, which means it’s time for those unsigned players to join whichever respective team they choose.

On Saturday, the Minnesota Twins reached an agreement on a minor league contract with Orlando Arcia, according to MassLive.com’s Chris Cotillo.

One can assume the deal includes an invite to Spring Training, as Arcia is a veteran infielder with nearly 10 years of service time. He was named to the All-Star team in 2023 with the Braves, in what was arguably his best season as a pro.

Former Braves’ Infielder Orlando Arcia Signs with Minnesota Twins

It will be interesting from the perspective of the Twins on if Orlando Arcia will see real big-league time with Minnesota.

In 2025, Arcia hit .202 over 76 total games with the Braves and Rockies.

Atlanta released Arcia in May, and the Rockies were quick to swoop in. He played 62 games with Colorado and hit three home runs. Overall, it wasn’t the best season for Arcia, who posted a negative bWAR (-1.2).

However, as noted, Arcia was once a slight power threat for the Braves. After coming up and spending six seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers, Arcia landed with the Braves and had back-to-back seasons (2023-2024) with 17 home runs.

The 31-year-old Arcia received most of his playing time early on in his career due to stellar defensive numbers, but those metrics have regressed to the mean as Orlando has aged.

What is Orlando Arcia’s Fit with the Twins?

Presuming that Orlando Arcia will be extended an invite to Spring Training, he will have the chance to earn a spot on the Twins’ infield.

In his short time with the Rockies, Arcia became more versatile at all of the infield positions, which increases his value. However, the Twins do have a young infielder in Brooks Lee, who Minnesota is likely to give leeway as he finds his footing at the big-league level.

In the 10 MLB seasons Arcia has been a part of, he’s put together a solid career. He came up at a young age, found his way on a World Series-winning Braves team in 2021 after being traded from Milwaukee, and became an All-Star. Arcia has a career .239 average with 90 home runs and 137 doubles.
