FLORENCE – Growth and advancements associated with LED technology in athletics has come at a stirring pace, yet some outdated installation methods remain. Traditionally, video displays have been installed behind nets, fences, plexiglasses, or on distant walls. This setup compromises the crisp images of the LED display with glare, netting, or metal bars, and leaves players exposed to potential injury from sharp edges and hard surfaces.

Uber Displays, a producer of custom LED signage, knew that teams wanted a product safe enough for players to interact with

directly on the field that could handle impacts from a baseball and maintain the visual quality that fans love about LED. So, they set out to move technology forward.

Rubberized is our answer.

Our patented rubberized mask preserves an impressive 126° horizontal viewing angle that ensures great visibility from nearly any seat and can withstand baseball impacts of up to 80 mph. Additionally, when players do make contact with the LED display, the soft, pliable mask significantly reduces the risk of injury.

Rubberized is currently installed at two Minor League ballparks—Durham Bulls Athletic Park (home of the Durham Bulls) and Cheney Stadium (home of the Tacoma Rainiers).

Rubberized will make its debut in NCAA baseball at the University of North Alabama at Mike Lane Field in 2026.

“The new, state-of-the-art facilities will benefit from our cutting-edge technology of rubberized displays and best in industry customer service,” said Andrew Rice, Uber Displays Chief Revenue Officer.

By becoming the first NCAA program in the nation to feature Rubberized in their ballpark, UNA is sending a clear message about its commitment to player safety and the overall game-day experience.

“We expect this facility to set a new standard for college baseball venues at our level,” said UNA Director of Athletics, Dr. Josh Looney. “By becoming the first program in the nation to feature this advanced technology, North Alabama Baseball will offer a videoboard experience comparable to what fans see in MLB and Triple-A ballparks, creating one of the most dynamic gameday atmospheres in college baseball.”
