DETROIT — Former Detroit Tigers right-hander Devin Sweet has signed a minor-league deal with the Boston Red Sox.

Sweet, 29, was traded by the Tigers to the Phillies for cash considerations after the 2024 season. Sweet originally signed with the Seattle Mariners as an undrafted free agent in 2018 and made his debut in 2023.

Sweet struck out 111 batters in 76 innings for Toledo in 2024 but never got a call-up to Detroit.

He spent the entire 2025 season with the Phillies’ Triple-A affiliate in Lehigh Valley, posting a 5.08 ERA in 51 1/3 innings, striking out 49 and walking 27.
