Kyle Tucker

One of the top free agents that remains on the market is Kyle Tucker. It was projected early on that Tucker could be looking for a contract around 10 or 11 years, but now it is being projected that he could look for a short-term deal instead.

*Prediction*

If that is the case, then there is a team that could emerge as a new suitor to sign Kyle Tucker, and that is the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Kyle Tucker Signs With the Pittsburgh Pirates in MLB Free Agency

The Pittsburgh Pirates have had an active offseason so far with signing Ryan O’Hearn and trading for Brandon Lowe, but there are talks that they aren’t done yet and could be looking to make an even bigger move to solidify themselves as contenders heading into 2026.

One area that the Pirates could look to make further improvements to is their outfield. While they did trade for Jake Mangum as well, if Pittsburgh is going to truly try to compete this upcoming 2026 season, they need to look for better players if possible. One player that makes sense for them is Kyle Tucker.

If the Pirates were to land Kyle Tucker, they would be getting a true leader who would help uplift the team and provide a positive impact both on offense and defense. Tucker is coming off a season in which he had a .266/.377/.464 slash line with 22 home runs, and 73 runs batted in. With Tucker being just 28 years old as well, it is another plus, as he is still playing at a high level and has many years left to play.

By signing Kyle Tucker, it would move Magnum to round out the outfield depth while pairing Tucker alongside Oneil Cruz, and Bryan Reynolds to make a stacked outfield to solidify the team going forward.
