White Sox claimed catcher Drew Romo off waivers from the New York Mets and designated infielder Ben Cowles for assignment to make room for Romo on the 40-man roster.

Cowles, 25, was drafted in the 10th round by the Yankees in the 2021 MLB Draft. The infielder has yet to make his big league debut and is a career .258 hitter with 39 home runs and 70 stolen bases in 1,852 minor league plate appearances.
