The Giants are being predicted to sign Ranger Suarez.
The San Francisco Giants had a disappointing 2025 season. The Giants finished the 2025 campaign with an 81-81 record and missed the playoffs for the fourth season in a row. With this, they will certainly be looking to turn things around in 2026 and snap their playoff drought in the process.
With the Giants looking to take that next step, they have brought in a few new players so far this offseason. Among their newcomers are Adrian Houser, Sam Hentges, Jason Foley, and Tyler Mahle. However, with there still being plenty of free agents available, the expectation is that the Giants are not done yet.
The Giants have brought in multiple new pitchers this offseason, but adding another impactful starter before the 2026 season is here should be one of their top priorities. Due to this, one free agent they have been connected to this offseason is Ranger Suarez.
Now, the Giants are only continuing to be linked to Suarez as the offseason carries on, as they are now being predicted to land the 30-year-old starting pitcher.
Giants Predicted to Sign Star Pitcher Ranger Suarez
In a recent article for FanSided, Chris Landers predicted where a handful of notable remaining free agents will sign this offseason. Among the players discussed was Suarez, which is understandable when noting that he is one of the best pitchers still available for the taking.
For Suarez, Landers predicted that the Giants will end up being the lucky club that lands Suarez this offseason.
“The declining velocity is a concern, as is the fact that Suarez has a relatively short track record as a starter and comes with some durability questions. But the production over the last few years, particularly in big games, is hard to argue with, and at this point San Francisco needs to take what it can get,” Landers wrote.
When looking at the Giants’ rotation, it is fair to argue that they could use a pitcher like Suarez. If the Giants successfully signed him, he would give the middle of their rotation a nice boost. This is made apparent by his stats in recent seasons.
During this past campaign with the Philadelphia Phillies, Suarez had a 12-8 record, a 3.20 ERA, and 151 strikeouts. This was after he was an All-Star in 2024, where he finished the season with a 12-8 record and a 3.46 ERA. With numbers like these, Suarez would certainly be a nice pickup for a Giants club looking to be a playoff team again.
Giants Have Competition in the Suarez Sweepstakes
With Suarez being one of the top free agent pitchers still on the board, it is only natural that the Giants have competition if they hope to sign him. Besides San Francisco, teams like the Baltimore Orioles and New York Mets have been linked to the eight-year veteran.
Suarez’s market also has the potential to heat up when top free agent pitcher Framber Valdez picks his next destination. With this, it would not be surprising if more teams enter the mix for Suarez.
Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see if the Giants end up being the team that successfully signs Suarez from here. On paper, the fit looks very good.
