The Cincinnati Reds are giving themselves more options as spring approaches.

On Sunday, they made a free agent signing of Garrett Hampson. The team officially announced the news on Sunday afternoon.
Hampson actually played in nine games for the Reds in 2025. He was 3-for-18 at the plate in that limited stint.
All told, he has suited up for the Reds, the Colorado Rockies, the Kansas City Royals, the Miami Marlins, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Hampson has above-average sprint speed even as he has surpassed 30 years old, according to Baseball Savant’s Statcast data.

In his career, Hampson has stolen 67 bases in 83 attempts at the MLB level.

He’s a career .235 hitter with 71 doubles, 19 triples and 29 homers.
Hampson can play all over the field.
When he plays the outfield, he patrols centerfield.
In the infield, Hampson can play both second base and shortstop.
He was originally a third-round pick by the Rockies in 2016 out of Cal State-Long Beach.

He’s a native of Reno, Nevada.
And now, Hampson will try to make Cincinnati’s roster.
