Good morning, baseball fans!

Earlier this week, former San Francisco Giants outfielder Jaylin Davis announced via a social media post that he will be retiring.

Davis was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 24th round of the 2015 draft, and made his MLB debut with the Giants back in 2019 after being traded in July of that year. He would ultimately only play 26 games for the Giants over the span of three seasons, before being placed on waivers in April of 2022.

The Boston Red Sox picked him up off of waivers and he went on to play a dozen games for them, batting .333/.407/.375 with eight hits and 11 strikeouts. He was granted free agency by the Red Sox after the 2022 season, and initially signed with the New York Mets in 2023 but was released mid-way through the season.

Best of luck to Davis and his future endeavors!
