On the heels of hurling and hitting Palma to a Gabilan Division baseball title last year, Alan Gonzalez will look to make an impact in the rotation this spring for the University of San Francisco.
The 6-foot-2 Gonzalez, who transformed his body by dropping 52 pounds between his junior and senior seasons, led the Pacific Coast Athletic League in wins last year with nine.
The hard-throwing right-hander struck out 77 hitters in 52 innings of work, sporting a 1.12 earned run average.
While recruited to be a pitcher, Gonzalez did hit .462 last season, with 10 homers and 49 runs batted in for Palma, producing a .524 on-base percentage.
