ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KFVS) – The Arizona Diamondbacks agreed to a trade with the Cardinals for a veteran third baseman.
The team announced on Tuesday, January 13 it traded 34-year-old Nolan Arenado.
St. Louis will receive 22-year-old right-hander Jack Martinez, an eighth-round pick from the 2025 MLB Draft out of Arizona State, in return.
Arizona will also receive cash considerations in the deal.
Arenado has 10 Gold Gloves, eight All-Star appointments, six Platinum Glove Awards, five Silver Sluggers and three NL home run titles.
While well-decorated, they say in the last three years his numbers haven’t gotten close to the levels they were at.
He suffered back and hand injuries in 2025.
