If one were to search online for “Colorado,” emerald and blue lakes with breathtaking reflections would appear across the screen, with a few scattered concrete jungles in the mix. The state is divided into eight regions: The Great West, Rockies Playground, Denver and Cities of the Rockies, Pikes Peak Wonders, Mystic San Luis Valley, Mountains and Mesas, Canyons and Plains, and Pioneering Plains. Colorado offers something for every lifestyle.
The Peak to Peak Scenic Byway is the state’s oldest scenic byway, established in 1918. The byway is one of Colorado’s most popular drives, covering 55 miles of wild beauty between Estes Park and Central City.
Passing through towns like Allenspark and Nederland, the Peak to Peak offers adventures in the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests, Indian Peaks Wilderness Area, and Rocky Mountain National Park.
During winter, snow turns the Rockies into the perfect playground for winter sports like skiing and snowshoeing. Afternoon thunderstorms with falling snow while early blooms make their first appearance can be part of a typical spring. Nature isn’t the only thing that makes Colorado special. The people, with a blend of Midwestern friendliness and West Coast chill attitude, help make Colorado beautiful. But don’t let their approachable character fool you. Coloradoans won’t hesitate to report anyone who breaks the rules.
If there’s a fire ban, don’t start a fire. Don’t feed or approach the wildlife. Don’t stop in the middle of the road to take a photo, and please, never ask, “When do deer turn into elk?” They don’t. Deer and elk are two different species.
“Rocky Mountain High” doesn’t mean everyone in Colorado uses marijuana. It means Coloradoans are high on life because they choose to be. And with majestic scenery and endless opportunities to live a fulfilling life, who can blame them?
For Coloradoans, the state is more than home; Colorado is a sanctuary. Please read through the useful information in this guide. It will help you enjoy a safe holiday while respecting the Colorado way of life.
