Rankings season is heating up, and today I’m turning my attention to the second base position in dynasty leagues. At FantraxHQ, my dynasty rankings are built to help fantasy baseball managers stay ahead of the curve, whether you’re contending now or building for the future. Second base is enjoying a renaissance in 2026, blending savvy veterans with an influx of dynamic young talent. Once viewed as a thin or one-dimensional position, the keystone has evolved into a true fantasy gold mine, with players contributing across power, speed, and ratios.

Second base remains one of the more nuanced positions to evaluate in dynasty formats. Unlike first base, fantasy value here isn’t tied to one skill set. The best second basemen impact multiple categories, and dynasty managers must weigh present production against long-term upside, role security, and aging curves. Many established stars are still producing at a high level, while a wave of prospects and recent call-ups are forcing their way into the long-term conversation with well-rounded offensive profiles.

These dynasty second base rankings are strictly fantasy-driven. Playing time, offensive skill sets, age, category impact, and lineup context matter far more here than defensive versatility or real-life accolades. While I respect industry lists like MLB Pipeline or Baseball America, this list is built with one goal in mind: maximizing long-term fantasy value. You’ll see prime-age producers with stable roles ranked alongside high-upside youngsters whose ceilings can reshape the position over the next few seasons.

How I Approach Dynasty Rankings

Fantasy Focused: Rankings are based solely on projected fantasy value (power, ratios, counting stats, etc.), not defensive prowess.
Criteria: Production (especially Statcast indicators), park context, age curves, durability, and role stability all factor into these rankings.
Position Eligibility: Players are ranked at first base if that is where their fantasy value is derived. Some names here have multi-position eligibility, but they’re included at 1B because of their impact with the bat at this position.
Your Team, Your Vision: Use these rankings as a guide, not gospel. A win-now contender might favor a 34-year-old still raking, while a rebuilding team might target a younger player with upside. Adjust accordingly for your team’s competitive window.

Top 20 Dynasty Second Basemen
20 | Christian Moore | LAA | MLB | 23

Moore debuted earlier than expected and showed why the Angels are high on his future. He brings a power-speed blend that plays well in fantasy, along with the confidence to handle big moments. The hit tool still needs refinement, but the opportunity is real, and the upside is enticing. Moore is a strong dynasty stash who could quickly outperform his current valuation.

Momma, there goes that man. CHRISTIAN MOORE HOMERS AGAIN!!!!

His 2nd of the night, 6th in 7 games. He is UNREAL. pic.twitter.com/5ezfvsiskD

19 | Colt Keith | DET | MLB | 24

Keith’s rookie season showed enough to believe a bigger breakout is coming. He flashed plus power, improved pitch recognition as the year progressed, and held his own against major league arms. The Tigers view him as a long-term building block, and dynasty managers should view him the same way. A .280 hitter with 25-plus homer upside at second base is firmly on the table.

18 | Jorge Polanco | NYM | MLB | 32

Polanco’s value now leans more toward short-term production, but there’s still plenty left in the tank. He continues to provide above-average power for the position and solid ratios when healthy. Seattle’s willingness to rotate him through DH should help preserve his bat. For contenders, Polanco remains a useful middle-infield option who can deliver in bursts.

Since 2023, there has been 6 seasons meeting these stats: over 120 games, Pull% over 50%, SLG over .475, and sub 20% K%

17 | Gleyber Torres | DET | MLB | 29

Torres enters a new chapter in Detroit but remains a dependable fantasy producer. He continues to offer 25-plus homer power, solid counting stats, and improved speed contributions. While the park downgrade may trim the ceiling slightly, his durability and consistent production keep him firmly in dynasty consideration for the next several seasons.

Gleyber Torres is a strong bounce back candidate for 2026. Here’s why:

.387 SLG/.462 xSLG

16 | Brendan Donovan | STL | MLB | 28

Donovan continues to be one of the most underrated dynasty assets in the middle infield. He brings elite on-base skills, strong contact rates, and multi-position eligibility, all while holding a stable role near the top of St. Louis’ lineup. While the power and speed are modest, the consistency and flexibility make Donovan an excellent roster stabilizer for competitive teams.

I’m sorry. The sentimental #STLCards fan in me does not want Brendan Donovan to be traded. He’s priceless. pic.twitter.com/gbdcKr81gJ

15 | Otto López | MIA | MLB | 27

López carved out a steady role for Miami in 2025, showing why the Marlins value his contact skills and versatility. He makes consistent contact, keeps the strikeouts in check, and adds enough speed to remain fantasy relevant. The power ticked up slightly, but his value is more about balance than impact. In dynasty formats, López profiles as a depth piece who can help in average, runs, and steals when playing time is there, rather than a true category driver.

14 | Bryson Stott | PHI | MLB | 28

Stott offers one of the safest fantasy floors at the position thanks to his contact skills, speed, and secure role in Philadelphia’s lineup. He filled up the stat sheet again in 2025 with double-digit homers and steals while scoring plenty of runs. There’s still room for a power step forward, but even without it, Stott is a reliable dynasty piece with multi-category value.

13 | Luis García | WSH | MLB | 25

Still just 25, García continues to quietly improve across the board. He makes plenty of contact, keeps the strikeout rate in check, and showed tangible power growth in 2025. Washington has invested in him as a core piece, giving him long-term runway. García may never be flashy, but he profiles as a steady four-category contributor entering his prime years.

12 | Lenyn Sosa | CWS | MLB | 25

Sosa’s 2025 breakout solidified him as a legitimate dynasty asset. He showed improved contact quality, more confidence against velocity, and real in-game power, finishing with a career-best home run total. The plate discipline is still developing, but the White Sox appear committed to giving him everyday at-bats. At 25, Sosa offers upside with enough present production to matter now.

11 | Brandon Lowe | PIT | MLB | 31

When healthy, Lowe remains one of the premier power bats at second base. He rebounded in 2025 with another strong homer total, continuing to provide elite pull-side power and strong OBP skills. Injuries are always part of the risk profile, but his usage in Pittsburgh will seemingly tick up if he remains healthy. For dynasty contenders, Lowe is a plug-and-play middle infielder who can swing categories with his power alone.

10 | Matt McLain | CIN | MLB | 26

McLain’s breakout is backed by real skills, not just a friendly home park. He offers legitimate 20-homer, 20-steal upside with improving plate discipline and elite bat speed. Health bears monitoring, but nothing suggests long-term concern. At 26, McLain is exactly the kind of power-speed contributor dynasty managers want anchoring the middle infield. Though 2025 was a down year, the skill set still plays long term and a bounce back is expected in 2026.

These @Reds die hard! McLain delivers the #walkoff!

9 | Kristian Campbell | BOS | MLB | 23

Campbell is emerging as a major dynasty value. His contact-heavy approach, developing power, and athleticism give him a strong foundation for long-term success. With everyday second base reps firmly in play, Campbell could grow into a .280 hitter with 20-homer and double-digit steal upside. This is the type of young player to invest in before the breakout becomes obvious.

8 | Ozzie Albies | ATL | MLB | 28

Albies remains a fixture in Atlanta’s elite lineup and one of the most productive second basemen in fantasy. Still in his prime, he offers consistent power, improving speed, and massive counting stat upside. Health has been the only real concern, but when on the field Albies delivers across the board. He remains a top-tier dynasty keystone who provides an edge in homers and RBIs at a traditionally shallow position.

7 | Travis Bazzana | CLE | AAA | 23

The 2024 No. 1 overall pick has wasted no time flashing star upside. Bazzana pairs lightning bat speed with advanced plate discipline and legitimate 20/20 potential. Landing in Cleveland keeps his path to everyday at-bats clear, and his advanced approach suggests a quick ascent to the majors. He’s close to MLB-ready, and dynasty managers should be aggressive here.

6 | Nico Hoerner | CHC | MLB | 28

Hoerner remains one of the safest dynasty options at second base. He’s firmly in his prime, consistently hitting around .285 while contributing 20-plus steals and plenty of runs from the top of Chicago’s lineup. Power is modest but playable, and his elite contact skills shine in OBP and points formats. Hoerner offers dependable, bankable production across multiple categories.

5 | Luke Keaschall | MIN | MLB | 23

Keaschall broke through at the MLB level in 2025 and immediately looked the part of a long-term dynasty asset. In 49 games with Minnesota, he hit .302/.382/.445 with 4 home runs, 28 RBI, 25 runs, and 14 stolen bases. His advanced plate discipline, plus speed, and growing power translated seamlessly against big-league pitching. Injuries limited volume, but the performance was real.

4 | Brice Turang | MIL | MLB | 26

Turang has quietly become a reliable fantasy contributor as Milwaukee’s everyday second baseman. Once viewed primarily as a defensive specialist, he’s added tangible fantasy value with double-digit homer power and 20-plus steal speed. At 26, he’s hitting the ball harder while maintaining strong contact skills. His balanced profile gives dynasty managers a high-floor option.

Brice Turang lays down a perfect #walkoff bunt to give the @Brewers the win.

3 | Jackson Holliday | BAL | MLB | 22

No longer a prospect, Holliday has already established himself as a key piece of Baltimore’s long-term core. His elite hit tool, advanced plate discipline, and growing power profile point to sustained five-category fantasy production. At just 22, he’s already producing in the majors and projects as a dynasty anchor at second base for the next decade.

Jackson Holliday’s first career home run being a grand slam? That’ll do 👏

2 | Ketel Marte | AZ | MLB | 32

Consistency and versatility define Marte’s value. He continues to post strong averages with 20-plus homer pop while piling up runs and RBIs. Multi-position eligibility boosts his dynasty profile, and while the speed has tapered, he remains a steady four-category contributor when healthy.

— MLB (@MLB) September 28, 2025

1 | Jazz Chisholm Jr. | NYY | MLB | 27

An electric power-speed combo, Jazz has matured into a fantasy superstar. He’s a legitimate 30/30 threat, now pairing Yankee Stadium power with aggressive base stealing. Injuries remain the only concern, but when healthy, Chisholm delivers elite exit velocities and impact production across all categories. At 27, he’s a cornerstone dynasty asset squarely in his prime.
