This offseason has been underwhelming on multiple fronts for the Minnesota Twins. Not only have they bungled the introduction of new partners, but the team on the field hasn’t been upgraded much at all, since the Twins played their last game on September 29.

Derek Falvey has dipped his toes into the free agent market and he’s made a few deals around the edges. But for the most part, the Twins’ have been hauntingly quiet the past few months.

Driveline project Andrew Bash signed by MN Twins

Given the desperation they are now facing in the bullpen, with the start of spring training less than a month away, Minnesota’s signing last week of underachieving 29-year-old pitcher Andrew Bash becomes all the more interesting.

The Minnesota Twins have signed RHP Andrew Bash to an MiLB deal per their transactions page.

The 29-year-old has pitched six seasons in the minors.

Had a 2.57 ERA and 72/36 K/BB across 84.0 IP last season for @BuffaloBisons.

Andrew Bash was initially drafted by the Los Angeles Angels in the 30th round of the 2019 MLB Draft. He has spent the last five years treading water in the Toronto Blue Jays organization. Despite his age, Andrew Bash has yet to make his big league debut.

Bash could play decent role in Twins’ 2026 bullpen plans

On its face, the Bash signing may seem just as pointless as the trade Minnesota announced earlier in the day, the time he’s spent recently at Driveline, paired with his numbers last year in the minors reveal an intriguing signing that could very well play into the Twins’ 2026 bullpen plans.

Congratulations to Andrew Bash on signing with the Minnesota @Twins! 👏 Here’s a good look at his latest live ABs.

Bash posted a 2.57 ERA with 72 Ks in AAA last year, ultimately earning himself the Buffalo Bisons 2025 Warren Spahn Most Valuable Pitcher Award.

Bash threw 84 innings for Triple-A Buffalo last season, posting a 2.57 ERA backed by a 72/36 K/BB. He’s found a way to avoid hard contact and has never been one to allow the long ball.

It’s not exactly a one-year sample either. In 2024, with Buffalo, Bash posted a 2.97 ERA in 78 2/3 innings. Last season, Bash averaged 93.3 mph on his fastball. He’s found success pairing that with higher usage of his sinker and slider.
