This offseason has been underwhelming on multiple fronts for the Minnesota Twins. Not only have they bungled the introduction of new partners, but the product hasn’t substantially been increased either.
Rather than making any significant splashes, Derek Falvey has dipped his toes into the free agent market. Minnesota has also made moves on the fringes, and those dart throws could turn out to be impactful.

Knowing the need for bullpen help, the franchise is probably hoping they can turn Andrew Bash into something.

Driveline project Andrew Bash signed by MN Twins
Andrew Bash was initially drafted by the Los Angeles Angels in the 30th round of the 2019 MLB Draft. He has spent the last five years in the Toronto Blue Jays organization. Now fresh off work with Driveline, he’s landed a deal with the Minnesota Twins.
Age isn’t on the side of Bash when it comes to prospect status. With no significant draft investment, and now 29 years old, he’s an easy guy to overlook within a farm system. The numbers under the hood tell you that may be unwise.

Bash threw 84 innings for Triple-A Buffalo last season, and his 2.57 ERA was backed by a 72/36 K/BB. He has often avoided hard contact, and has never been one to allow the long ball. It’s not exactly a one-year sample either. At Triple-A in 2024 with Buffalo, Bash posted a 2.97 ERA in 78 2/3 innings.
Last season Bash averaged 93.3 mph on his fastball. He paired it with a sinker and slider that he has upped the usage of. Minnesota can continue to mold the clay that Driveline worked with this offseason. The popular data-driven outfit has generated renewed success for plenty of players over the year.
Bash is still hoping to make his big league debut, and for a team with a bullpen as wide open as the Twins, this could be as good of a time as any.
