The Toronto Blue Jays management brass continues to stay very busy this offseason.
After having already signed the likes of Dylan Cease, Cody Ponce, Tyler Rogers, and Kazuma Okamoto, the Jays, who were also in the running for four-time All-Star Kyle Tucker, announced that they have signed a plethora of international free agents.
In total, 27 international players have been signed by the Blue Jays. Here’s a look at each one, including their position:
Juan Caricote (C)
Jose Gori (C)
Samuel Orellana (C)
Ayberson Ortega (C)
Isay Veras (C)
Sebastian Casanova (INF)
Yariel Cordero (INF)
Frelian Flores (INF)
Alex Linares (INF)
Eiker Lothar (INF)
Gabriel Porras (INF)
Ruben Sanchez (INF)
Deret Gonzales (OF)
Michael Mesa (OF)
Luis Nunez (OF)
Aneudi Severino (OF)
Sahir De La Cruz (RHP)
Abrahan Diaz (RHP)
Fayon Dumorne (RHP)
Evington Gascon (RHP)
Yoenis Morales (RHP)
Adrian Moreta (RHP)
Manuel Parra (RHP)
Franiel Severino (RHP)
Alieski Torres (RHP)
Elian Guzman (LHP)
Celwin Hurkmans (LHP)
There are plenty of different backgrounds among these signings, including 13 players from Venezuela, 11 from the Dominican Republic, two from Cuba, and one from the Netherlands.Â
Fans shouldn’t expect to see any of the names listed above any time soon, as these signings are often viewed as long-term investments. Blue Jays infielder Leo Jiménez was an international free-agent signing, as was catcher Alejandro Kirk.
While work on the international free-agent side of things is now complete, Blue Jays management may not be done just yet. After failing to both land Tucker and re-sign Bo Bichette, they may still look to make a move in order to add another big bat ahead of the 2026 season.
