GREEN BAY (WLUK) — For students and teachers at a Green Bay elementary school, Thursday was a grand slam day, thanks to the Milwaukee Brewers.
Brewers players Caleb Durbin and Chad Patrick visited Howard Elementary School as part of the team’s tour, teachers across the state of Wisconsin.
Adding to the fun, the Famous Racing Sausages made a few laps around the gym in front of students.
During the ceremony, the Brewers presented third grade teacher, Nicole Gardener, with the Grand Slam Teacher Award, which included a personalized jersey.
The honor also included a donation to the school for $1,000.

Gardener says she was so surprised and thankful for the recognition.
“At first I was a little nervous, this is not my thing to get up in front of crowds but just so happy and so happy for my school and my class that we got to do this today,” she said. “It is so cool that they [Brewers] are taking their time out of their days to come and visit schools like this, so we are so thankful for them.”
