The Vanderbilt Commodores made changes to their stadium, Hawkins Field, prior to the 2026 college baseball season.

The major dimensional change Vanderbilt made was bringing in the right field fences.

The distance from home plate to the right field corner is now 315 feet. This is a 15-foot difference from the previous dimensions as the distance from home plate to the right field corner used to be 330 feet.

The height of the right field wall is also being moved from eight feet tall to ten feet tall. This is to compensate for the newer, closer distance.

Hawkins Field is now the second smallest ballpark in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The smallest ballpark in the conference is Lindsey Nelson Stadium, which is home to the Tennessee Volunteers.

“I think it’s going to play to some advantage for us this year, so we’re excited,” Holcomb said. “We’re glad that we have it now and honestly wish it happened a bit sooner.”
