The Chicago Cubs look to add depth to their bench with their latest addition of former top prospect Dylan Carlson.

According to Greg Zumach of The Baseball Tribune, the Chicago Cubs have signed veteran outfielder Dylan Carlson to a minor league deal.

Drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the first round of the 2016 June Amateur Draft, Carlson came into the Major Leagues with high expectations. After playing in the 2020 season, his first full season in 2021 showed significant potential. The switch-hitter posted a .266/.343/.437 slash line with 18 home runs, 31 doubles, and a .780 OPS in 149 games.

Carlson’s next few seasons were a bit of a struggle with the Cardinals, and he was eventually traded to the Tampa Bay Rays during the 2024 season.

Last season with the Baltimore Orioles, Carlson hit .203 with six home runs, nine doubles, and 20 RBI in 83 games.
