Aaron Sanchez’s potential return to Major League Baseball goes through Missouri.

FanSided’s Robert Murray reports the Kansas City Royals have signed the 33-year-old righty to a minor-league deal with an invite to spring training.

A first-round selection of the 2010 MLB Amateur Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays, Sanchez last appeared in a big league game in 2022 as a member of the Minnesota Twins. Sanchez did not play in 2025, but appeared in 14 games for the Jays’ Triple-A affiliates, the Buffalo Bisons, in 2024. He went 3-6 with a 7.92 earned run average and WHIP of 1.679 over 61.1 innings pitched.

The native of Bristow, CA is currently competing in the Dominican Winter League with Toros del Este. In eight starts, Sanchez is 4-2 with a 1.55 ERA and 0.950 WHIP over 46.1 innings pitched. He’s struck out 34 batters and walked nine.

Making his big league debut in 2014, Sanchez went on to make 146 appearances for the Blue Jays over six seasons and was an All-Star in 2016 when he was 15-2 with an American League-leading 3.00 ERA. He was traded to the Houston Astros in 2019 and also spent time with the Washington Nationals in 2022.

In a career 174 appearances for the Jays, Astros, Giants, Nats and Twins, Sanchez is 38-38 with a 4.16 ERA and 1.378 WHIP over 685.0 IP.
