PERKINSTON, Miss. (WLOX) – The bulldogs baseball team enters the season ranked 25th in the NJCAA Division II preseason Poll.
Gulf coast finished the 2025 season with a record of 38-19 while ranked fourth in MACCC conference play going 19-9.
Multiple former coast stars make up the Bulldog’s roster including pitchers Griffin Wells (So., Pascagoula/Pascagoula) and Connor Tice (Fr., Wiggins/Stone) as well as returning catchers Layton Eder (So., Vancleave/Vancleave) and Landen Wallace (So., Gulfport/West Harrison)
The Bulldogs kick off their season thursday, against Florida Post-Grad at Ken “Curly” Farris Field, with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m.
Softball saw similar strides in 2025, finishing 36-19 with a conference mark of 15-11.
Gulf coast will have a returning star leading the team as Izzy Werdann enters her first year as head coach.
The former Bulldog was an All-American during her time in Perkinston before transferring to Ole miss.
Outfielder/Pitcher Caroline Batson (So., Wiggins/Stone ) and Infielder Brooklyn Mitchell (So., Gulfport/St. Patrick) return as veterans in a freshman-heavy team.
The Bulldog’s softball season starts against Baton Rouge Community College at the Mardi Gras Invitational with first pitch scheduled for 3PM on friday.
