Every year, MLB The Show brings baseball into the homes of video game enthusiasts all over the world. Despite being developed by PlayStation‘s San Diego Studio, the games have made the leap to multiplatform, with recent iterations of The Show launching on Nintendo and Xbox consoles, in addition to Sony’s PlayStation machines.
Like most sports video games, it’s always a big deal when the cover athlete for an MLB The Show game is announced, and now we know who will grace the cover of this year’s title. It’s none other than Aaron Judge, Team Captain of the New York Yankees. This marks the second time he’s been an MLB The Show cover athlete, after MLB The Show 2018, his first season after winning Rookie of the Year. To say he’s lived up to his promise since then would be an understatement… And I’m just talking about his cheekbones! Hubba Hubba!
Err, anyway, MLB The Show 2026 lunches on March 17, 2026, with pre-orders opening up on February 3. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. Curiously, the game will not receive a native Switch 2 version, at least not at launch, opting instead for the older Switch 1… Which makes me wonder why there’s not a version for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, since they’re more powerful systems than Nintendo’s dusty ol’ Switch. I’m sure they have their reasons.
