Breckenridge Police announced the arrest in connection with Chyra Davis, who was reported missing on January 18.
BRECKENRIDGE, Texas — A man has been arrested after Breckenridge police found the body of a woman who was reported missing earlier this month.
In a news release, the department said that 47-year-old Shane Anthony is being held in the Stephens County Jail in connection with the murder of Chyra Davis.
Officers received a missing persons report after Davis was last seen leaving her home on Jan. 18. Breckenridge police said they launched a search with assistance from the Texas Rangers. On Tuesday, Jan. 28, officers located Davis’ body while executing a search warrant.
Later that day, officers arrested Anthony and initially charged him with tampering with or fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair a human corpse, police said. On Wednesday, authorities announced he is now also charged with Davis’ murder.
It’s unclear what the relationship is between Anthony and Davis, and the official cause of death has not yet been released.
The investigation remains ongoing with assistance from the Texas Rangers and the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office.
