Harrison Bader has been one of the best defensive center fielders in baseball over the past half-decade, and now he’ll be calling Oracle Park home.

According to The Athletic‘s Ken Rosenthal, the San Francisco Giants have a two-year agreement in place with Bader, who is coming off the strongest offensive season of his MLB career.

The 31-year-old won a Gold Glove Award with the St. Louis Cardinals during the 2021 season, but has continued to post strong defensive numbers over stops with the New York Yankees, Cincinnati Reds, New York Mets, Minnesota Twins, and Philadelphia Phillies.

Bader’s signing will open the door for the Giants to slide Jung Hoo Lee into right field while keeping All-Star outfielder Heliot Ramos in left field moving forward.

MLB Network’s Jon Heyman reports that Harrison Bader’s deal with San Francisco is worth $20.5 million, with incentives that could push it to $21 million.

More on Harrison Bader

Harrison Bader posted some career-highs during the 2025 season with the Twins and Phillies.

Over 146 games (career-high), Bader mashed a career-best 17 home runs while establishing another career-high with 54 runs driven in.

Bader’s .277 batting average–another high mark during his nine-year career–and .796 OPS also provide San Francisco with some offensive upside, along with his defensive calling card.

Since the start of the 2020 season, Harrison Bader has been ranked seventh among all MLB center fielders in outs above average (14) and tenth in runs prevented (12).

Second-year team president of baseball operations Buster Posey has accomplished another offseason task by adding Bader, with his pitching acquisitions of Adrian Houser and Tyler Mahle rounding out an overall productive offseason for San Francisco.
