The Atlanta Braves have made a bunch of moves this offseason.
The biggest was signing a potential closer, Robert Suarez.
They also brought in outfielder Mike Yastrzemski and shortstops Ha-Seong Kim and Jorge Mateo.
Atlanta did a good job of retaining its current bullpen pieces, too, but the Braves have yet to do anything with starting pitching.

That’s always a spot that could use an upgrade, and it happens to be the part of the free agent pool that still has the most talent remaining.
MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand wrote in a new article on Thursday that the Braves “remain in the market for a starting pitcher,” and he lists these three names as possibilities:
Framber ValdezZac GallenChris Bassitt
Feinsand notes that Valdez and Gallen would likely only make sense for Atlanta if they’re willing to take a shorter-term deal.

Valdez is the unquestioned top pitcher remaining in free agency and has been connected this offseason to many teams, including the NL East rival New York Mets. He’s a groundball specialist from the Houston Astros.
Gallen was great for the Arizona Diamondbacks a couple seasons ago but had a bumpy 2025, making his valuation a bit more confusing.
Bassitt is the oldest of the bunch but had a strong 2025 season for the Toronto Blue Jays and could be a reliable guy to turn to every fifth day for Atlanta.
It certainly sounds like there’s still something to get done here for the Braves.
