ARLINGTON — The Texas Rangers sent their truck of supplies off to Surprise, Ariz., on Thursday afternoon. They unveiled a handful of players who’ll go along with it, too.

The Rangers announced 10 non-roster spring training invitations Thursday, a group that includes top prospect Sebastian Walcott and left-handed pitcher Austin Gomber, who was officially signed to a minor league deal with a camp invite.

Walcott, 19, is the organization’s consensus top-ranked prospect according to all evaluators. The Bahamanian shortstop is the league’s No. 7 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and the No. 16 prospect on Baseball America’s list. Walcott slashed .255/.355/.386 with 13 home runs at Double-A Frisco last season after his first trip to big league camp. He impressed last spring and slashed .444/.500/1.111 in eight Cactus League games before he was reassigned to the minors.

He’s one of three players on Baseball America’s organizational top 30 list that received an invite to camp in addition to left-handed pitcher Dalton Pence (No. 14) and shortstop Cam Cauley (No. 26). The other invitees are left-handed pitcher Robby Ahlstrom, outfielder Trevor Hauver, right-handed pitcher Ryan Lobus, right-handed pitcher Eric Loomis, left-handed pitcher Josh Trentadue and outfielder Aaron Zavala.
