This is the inaugural edition of our Best of New England rankings for the Class of 2027.
The New England Baseball Journal staff has ranked the top prep and high school prospects by class as part of our new “Best of New England” series.
College recruiters — and to a lesser degree, pro scouts — have helped set the market value for these players by extending invitations to premier showcase events and offers to join college programs. The NEBJ staff will now attempt to sort through those commitments, offers, and our own evaluations to rank the top 50 players in the Class of 2027.
We understand that a prospect’s perceived value will vary among college recruiters, based on that particular program’s needs. For instance, a pitcher might have less value for a pitching-rich college staff that struggled to score runs last season. We rank our top 50 as if the entire pool of Class of 2027 prospects is entering a draft, and we are assembling a team from scratch.
