Source: Outfielder Harrison Bader, Giants agree to two-year free-agent contract originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area

The Giants are bolstering their outfield in free agency.

San Francisco agreed to a two-year free-agent contract with centerfielder Harrison Bader, a source confirmed to NBC Sports Bay Area’s Alex Pavlovic on Monday after The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal first reported the news.

The New York Post’s Jon Heyman reported that Bader’s contract with the Giants is for $20.5 million, with incentives that can boost it to $21 million.

The 31-year-old Bader, selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the third round of the 2015 MLB Draft, spent the first five-plus years of his MLB career with St. Louis and won a Gold Glove Award in 2021 before he was dealt to the New York Yankees at the 2022 trade deadline.

Bader then was traded from New York to the Cincinnati Reds midway through the 2023 season before signing one-year contracts with the New York Mets in 2024 and the Minnesota Twins in 2025.

Minnesota traded Bader to the Philadelphia Phillies midway through the 2025 season.

In 146 combined games with Minnesota and Philadelphia, Bader batted .277/.347/.449 with 17 home runs, 54 RBI and 11 stolen bases in 501 plate appearances.

The veteran now will join a Giants outfield mix headlined by centerfielder Jung Hoo Lee, Heliot Ramos and Drew Gilbert.
