The Cincinnati Reds have announced the coaching staff for the Double-A Chattanooga Lookouts for the 2026 season. Much of the coaching staff from the 2025 season is returning to help open up a new ballpark in April. Manager Jose Moreno, hitting coach Mike Jacobs, pitching coach Joel Bonnett, and coach Reggie Williams are all coming back. They are being joined by coach Osmin Melendez.
Jose Moreno is now in his 7th season with the Cincinnati Reds organization. He joined the club in 2020 but the season was cancelled, making his first job on the record with the Reds being in 2021 when he was the manager of the Dayton Dragons. The following year he took over as the manager in Chattanooga and that’s where he’s been ever since. Prior to joining the Reds he was in the Seattle Mariners organization working in their farm system for 19 seasons.
Joel Bonnett is returning as the Lookouts pitching coach. This is both his second season in Chattanooga and in the Reds organization. He was previously a pitching coach in the Toronto Blue Jays farm system and a college pitching coach from 2012-2021. He pitched collegiately at North Park University.
Mike Jacobs is back for his second season as the hitting coach for Chattanooga. This is his second season with the Reds as a hitting coach, but he had been with the organization in the three years prior to that as a coach with Triple-A Louisville. Before he joined the Reds he was working in the Miami Marlins farm system for five seasons. Jacobs played in the big leagues for seven years with the New York Mets, Florida Marlins, Kansas City Royals, and Arizona Diamondbacks.
Reggie Williams is also back with the Lookouts. The coach was with the Reds farm system as a coach from 2018-2021 before leaving to be the head coach at Alcorn State before rejoining Cincinnati in 2025 to be a coach with Chattanooga. Williams played four seasons in the big leagues with Cleveland and Los Angeles.
Osmin Melendez is going to be in his first season with Chattanooga as a coach and in his 4th season with the Reds. He previously served on the coaching staff in Dayton in 2023 and with Daytona in both 2024 and 2025. Before he came to Cincinnati he worked in player development with the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Chicago Cubs. As a player he was in the Baltimore Orioles farm system for two seasons.
