In just over two weeks, the Texas Rangers will head to Surprise, Ariz., to begin 2026 spring training activities.
For most players, it’ll be a return to baseball to ramp back up before the 2026 season begins in late March.

However, for some players, the baseball grind never really stopped.
Earlier this week, amidst the flurry of news, the Rangers announced updates on four players who participated in Winter Ball leagues.
Ezequiel Duran had a slash line of .338/.399/.463/.862 (46-136) with two home runs, one triple, nine doubles, 22 RBI, seven stolen bases, and 23 runs scored in 35 games for Aguilas Cibaenas of the Dominican Winter League (LIDOM).
Duran led the team in hits and ranked second in RBI while hitting safely in 13 of his final 14 games from Dec. 4-21, sporting a .352 average (19-54) with 8 RBI during the span.

That strong performance should lead to some confidence for Duran, who will look to establish himself within first-year manager Skip Schumaker’s system after not really seeing much playing time for parts of the last two seasons.
Outfielder Alejandro Osuna played for Charros de Jalisco of the Mexican Pacific Winter League (LMP) for the first time since 2021, slashing .339/.486/.411/.897 (19-56) with one triple, two doubles, five RBI, eight stolen bases, and 10 runs.
Osuna walked more times than he struck out, with a 9-15 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 17 games played.
Minor-league outfielder Aaron Zavala slashed .358/.460/.621/1.081 (34-95) with six home runs, seven doubles, 19 RBI, and 20 runs scored in 27 games with Jaguares de Nayarit of the Mexican League.

Zavala’s .358 batting average ranked second among hitters with 100-or-more plate appearances.
Earlier this week, Zavala received an invite to Major League Spring Training for the second consecutive season.
New Rangers reliever Alexis Diaz also played some winter ball prior to signing his one-year deal with Texas. Díaz logged a brief, four-game stint with Cangrejeros de Santruce of the Puerto Rican Winter League (LBPRC) from Dec. 2-10.
The Rangers have been impressed with the progress Diaz has made this offseason and feel like he can return to the all-star form he was in with the Cincinnati Reds.
Rangers pitchers and catchers will report on Tuesday, Feb. 10, with the first full squad workout set for Sunday, Feb. 15.
