HONEY GROVE, Texas — A man with self-inflicted injuries was detained after police discovered a deceased woman in a Honey Grove residence on January 31, 2026.

Officers responded to an unknown medical call on Pecan Street around 8:48 a.m., according to a press release from Chief Leigh Dixon.

Upon arrival, officers and medical personnel encountered a white male holding a knife. After persuading him to put down the weapon, he was detained and treated by EMS before being transported to TMC Denison for his injuries.

The deceased woman was found inside the home, prompting an active investigation into her death. The Texas Rangers have been contacted to assist with the investigation, which remains ongoing.

Chief Dixon expressed gratitude to the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office, Precinct 3 Constable’s Office, and Texas Rangers for their assistance. No further comments will be made at this time, and the families involved are asked to be kept in thoughts and prayers.
