Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Miguel Rojas is fully confident the Dodgers will re-sign free agent Kiké Hernandez before the end of the offseason.

“I’m in constant communication with Kiké,” Rojas said. “I have no doubt that he’s gonna be back. Everybody in this clubhouse wants him back.”

Rojas continued to provide some insight on why the Dodgers haven’t yet made a move on the fan favorite.

“It definitely has something to do with his injury and the stuff that he’s going through right now,” Rojas said. “He’s not gonna be ready until a couple months into the season, but I’m crossing my fingers and keeping the hope that we’re going to have Kiké because we all know how important he is for the clubhouse, for the organization, for the fans, for the city of L.A., and he deserves to be with us too.

Miguel Rojas told me that he has no doubt that Kiké Hernandez will be back with the Dodgers, and that he will miss the first couple months.

Hernandez underwent surgery to repair his elbow extension muscle at the beginning of the offseason, and revealed he originally suffered the injury in May. The veteran played through the injury but paid the price, and will now miss out on the 2026 World Baseball Classic as well as the beginning of the regular season.

The utility man originally came to the Dodgers ahead of the 2025 season, arriving from the Miami Marlins via trade. He played the next six seasons of his career with the Dodgers, serving as an important piece to a team which eventually went on to win the World Series in 2020.

After the 2020 season, though, Hernandez entered free agency and signed with the Boston Red Sox. He remained in the American League until 2023, when the Red Sox traded him back to L.A.

Hernandez has been with the team since, and has added two more championships to his repertoire since returning. During his nine total seasons as a Dodger, Hernandez has hit 95 home runs and tallied 320 RBIs and has a .713 OPS.

Even after such a successful career in L.A., the 34-year-old isn’t quite done yet. Should the Dodgers bring him back — as many like Rojas expect them to — he’ll look to continue serving as a contributor to a Dodgers team in search of the first three-peat in franchise history
