The Cleveland Guardians took on the Detroit Tigers in the final game of the four game series. I would say they were looking for the sweep, but with the ridiculous twelve hour turnaround between games, the Guardians rolled out their punt line up against AL Cy Young winner, Tarik Skubal.

Logan Allen held his own against the Tigers offense, making quick work in the first inning with the help of Catcher Austin Hedges.

In the bottom of the second LTA worked himself into a bases loaded situation, but escaped unscathed.

It took until the fourth inning for the best team in the American League to strike. LTA gave up a lead off single and was burnt by a one-out home run off the bat of Zack McKinstry. Allen came unraveled at that point, immediately giving up a double to Báez and a two-out, RBI double to Gleyber Torres. Ibáñez hit a single to score Torres and scored himself when LTA committed a fielding error to allow Greene to reach. Down 0-5, Vogt turned to Jakob Junis to retire the side.

Jakob Junis kept the tigers at bay, finishing the fourth inning only allowing one runner via HBP. He faced the minimum in the fifth and sixth inning.

Nic Enright made his major league debut, pitching the seventh inning. He struck out the lead off hitter but gave up back to back two-out singles but got out of the inning with runners on the corners. Enright pitched the eighth, facing the minimum. In his major league debut, Enright struck out three and only gave up two hits.

Skubal was pitching a perfect game going into the sixth. Will Wilson broke it up with a lead off double to right.

Wilson, Nolan Jones (HBP) and José Ramírez (1B) were the only base runners for the Guards. Skubal threw a complete game shutout against Cleveland.

The Dodgers will be coming to town tomorrow to kick off the three game series. First pitch is at 6:10 PM EDT with Gavin Williams slated to start. If you’re heading to the game tomorrow, make sure you get downtown early to line up for the mystery reliever jersey giveaway.
